Daily Painting in Maine - Sunset at Cadillac Mountain

A few weeks ago a friend and I painted the sunset fro the top of Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park. while we waited  for the sun to set on the western side we had time too do a plein air painting from the eastern side looking down on the Porcupine Islands. ( Bar Harbor is off to the left)

The sunset was beautiful. However, a painting of a sunset reveals much more than the nanosecond captured by a photo. A painting is more like a poem, put together over time. You begin painting before the brilliant color arrives and finish after it has gone.
